• Last June, the Postal Service filed a request with the Postal Rate Commission (PRC) to implement a two-year test for a new Priority Mail flat-rate box.
  
  Just recently, the PRC set a schedule to wrap up its work on the flat-rate box proposal. As a result, a decision by the PRC could be issued by late September. Support for the proposal was strong, so a favorable decision authorizing the two-year pricing experiment is expected. Implementation is targeted for mid-November and would involve the distribution of two different box sizes that have the same cube size and same postage rate of $7.70.
